Reflection 2
I'm a Teacher, I will Empower
Education is always our primary concern. In Developing Problem-based and Project-based Instructional Plans, both are capable to meet the challenges of preparing students to solve the real world problems rather than essay- and exam-based traditional classroom learning. Project-based plan focuses on developing critical thinking and problem solving skills of the students. In short, it integrates knowing and doing. The Problem-based plan learning is student centered, promoting significant learning as well as the development of number of important skills and abilities that a student needs. In here, the teacher becomes a facilitator of the learning process. When we combined the two learning plans, we can assure that the learners could enjoy every discussion while they are being exposed in real life learning situations.
In the teaching profession, it requires patience, lots of patience. In using these two plans, it will give plenty of advantages to the students and also to the teacher itself. In my part, those two learning plans enable teachers and students to learn and adopt with the changes that is happening. And because students learn while doing, they are now capable of developing new learning around hobbies, passions, and careers. It means that it also give impact with the development of interpersonal skills of the students and greater depth of understanding the concepts of the lesson given by the teachers. These things make the students go out on their own and learn on their own, giving them a better understanding of the topic. In this way, students will learn to take up an initiative on their own while. gaining knowledge at the same time.
As a language teacher, incorporating Problem and Project-based Plan should always be in my list. The curriculum then becomes more relevant, therefore, the motivation for my future students to accomplish the tasks, increases. The topic not only has to be relevant but it also has to be stimulating to the students’ curiosity. Imagine that if a student is bored with the content, they are not going to want to learn it, right? This is based on my experience. Like, if we are bored of the discussion, we tend to divert our attention to another thing which lessen our learning. Teaching should be fun, too. And I believe that a teacher is not only someone who teaches, but they are a symbol of learning. We should empower and influence youths to make their dreams do come true. Now, I want to ask you, what it takes to be en effective English language teacher?
